EFT
Emotional Freedom Technique
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping, combines gentle tapping on specific points of the body with focused attention on thoughts and emotions. It can help people manage stress, anxiety and emotional distress.
Our approach
It's simple, non-invasive, and something clients can learn to use for themselves long after a session ends.
Why is it so approachable?
EFT was developed in the 1990s and has continued to evolve through decades of practice and research. It is simple to learn, requires no special equipment and can be adopted to suit the individual.
Sessions are collaborative and gentle, with you remaining in control throughout. You don’t have to share anything you’re not comfortable discussing.
What happens during a round of tapping?
EFT, commonly known as tapping, involves gently tapping with your fingertips on a sequence of points on the face, upper body and hand while focusing your attention on a particular thought, feeling or experience.
During a session, I guide you through the process at your own pace, helping you focus on what you’re experiencing while learning a technique you can practice yourself.

A safe, expert-led approach
EFT is a beautiful, empowering tool because it is entirely client-led. You remain fully conscious, in control, and completely safe throughout the entire session.
Because Mandy brings nearly two decades of NHS frontline mental health experience to every session, she's uniquely equipped to hold an exceptionally safe, grounded, non-judgemental space as you use these techniques to restore balance to your life.
What a session feels like
Every session starts with a conversation - what's on your mind, what you'd like to work on or change, what feels heavy, what you'd like to feel different about. From there, we work together at your pace, tuning into the feeling and gently working through it.
There's no script to follow and nothing you need to prepare. You don't have to relive the hardest parts of a memory in detail for it to shift - often just naming what's there is enough to start. Sessions are private, unhurried, and led entirely by where you're at that day.
Who it's for?
EFT works well as a stand-alone practice or alongside other support you already have in place, like therapy or medical care. Whether you're dealing with something specific or just want a steadier, calmer relationship with your own emotions, sessions are built around what you need - not a one-size-fits-all process.
A supportive approach, tailored to you
Your experiences, feelings and goals are unique. Sessions are collaborative and shaped around what matters to you, with time to explore your concerns at your own pace.
My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you feel listened to, supported and empowered to develop new ways of managing difficult emotions.

Common questions about EFT
Thinking about trying tapping? Here are answers to the questions people most often ask before their first session. If yours isn’t covered, just get in touch.
Does EFT tapping hurt?
No. EFT involves gentle tapping with your fingertips on specific points on the face, upper body, and hands. It's non-invasive and doesn't require any special equipment.
Do I have to relive painful memories in detail?
No. You don't have to relive the hardest parts of a memory in detail for it to shift; often, just naming what's there is enough to start.
Can EFT be used alongside therapy or medical care?
Yes. EFT works well as a stand-alone practice or alongside other support you already have in place, such as therapy or medical care.
Is EFT scientifically backed?
Yes. Research shows tapping on meridian points sends a calming signal to the amygdala, lowering cortisol and reducing the emotional charge attached to a stressful thought. (Link to full evidence page for study-level detail.)
Will I stay in control during a session?
Yes. EFT is entirely client-led. You remain fully conscious, in control, and completely safe throughout the entire session.
Can I learn to do EFT on myself?
Yes. EFT is something clients can learn to use for themselves long after a session ends - many people find it becomes a habit they reach for independently.
